Shri. P.K. Kunhalikutty

Shri. P.K. Kunhalikutty is a prominent political leader from Keralam, presently serving as the Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Commerce, IT & AI, Mining & Geology in the Government of Kerala. A senior leader of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), he has had a distinguished political career spanning over four decades, marked by extensive legislative experience, administrative responsibilities and contributions to the industrial and developmental landscape of the State. Shri. Kunhalikutty entered public life through student politics and served as the Secretary of the Farook College Students Union during his student days, laying the foundation for his long-standing engagement in public affairs. At the age of 29, he became the Chairman of Malappuram Municipality in 1980, marking the beginning of his active political leadership. He was subsequently elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly on multiple occasions. He has been elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly nine times between 1982 and 2026. In July 2017, Kunhalikutty was elected to the Parliament of India and served as a Member of Parliament until February 2021. He served as the Minister for Industries and Social Welfare from 1991 to 1995. From 1995 to 1996, he served as the Minister for Industries and Municipalities and also served as the Minister for Industries, Information Technology and Social Welfare from 2001 to 2004. He continued to hold important responsibilities as Minister for Industries, IT and Social Welfare from 2004 to 2005 and later from 2011 to 2016. In May 2026, he was elected to the 16th Kerala Legislative Assembly with a record majority and assumed office as the Minister for Industries, Commerce, IT & AI, Mining & Geology. Apart from his ministerial responsibilities, Kunhalikutty continues to serve as the National General Secretary of the Indian Union Muslim League. He is also currently the Director of Cochin International Airport Limited.
