Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan

Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, and Chairman of Cochin International Airport Limited. A member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), he is the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) (1998–2015). He also served in the government of Kerala as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives from 1996 to 1998. Shri. Vijayan won a seat in the May 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election as the CPI(M) candidate for Dharmadam constituency and was selected as the leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and became the 12th Chief Minister of Kerala. He is the first chief minister from Kerala to be re-elected after completing a full term (five years) in office. 

Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan was chosen as a member of the Kannur District Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) at a very young age of 24. He was elected to the District Secretariat when he was 28 and quickly rose in party ranks and people’s minds. He became a Member of the State Secretariat in 1988. He contested to the Kerala Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1970 from Kuthuparamba and won the election. He repeated the feat in 1977, 1991, 1996 and 2016, every time increasing his majority significantly. By putting forth a people-centric approach of development, Pinarayi Vijayan ably supported by his brilliant cabinet colleagues, put Kerala back in the long road to recovery and growth. His vision for the overall growth of Kerala has been well appreciated by people and organisations across the world.
