P. Mohamed Ali is a prominent non-resident Indian businessman hailing from Thalikulam in Thrissur. He is renowned as the founder of Galfar Engineering and Contracting, a leading company in the Sultanate of Oman. Established in 1972, Galfar started as a modest construction firm and has since evolved into Oman's largest private sector employer, with operations spanning across oil and gas, roads and bridges, civil infrastructure, marine projects, and utilities sectors. Under Ali's leadership, Galfar has achieved significant milestones, boasting a turnover exceeding US$1 billion and employing over 25,000 individuals, making it the largest private sector employer of Omani nationals. Ali's remarkable contributions to Oman's economic development have earned him esteemed recognition, including the "Civil Order Grade Three '' bestowed upon him by the Omani Government. Additionally, his philanthropic endeavors extend to both Oman and India, where he has established educational institutions such as Yenopoya University, Islamic Academy of Education, and various schools and colleges.
